What’s the best push present?

It’s the thought that counts when giving a push present and it’s to mainly show her your appreciation and understanding of what she went through to have a baby. A gift for pushing out  a baby is something special and emotional. It can mean a lot to a new mom, not just because of the monetary value, but because of the sentimental value as well.

With that said, please have a look at the page on this site that shows some push gift examples of really bad push present ideas.

When is the best time to give a push present?

Push Present - Clock

Timing is extremely important.

Before we can get into that answer, it is really important to research, pick out your push gift and have it in hand, wrapped and ready to be given months in advance. As the time when baby is soon approaching, things get much busier preparing for the arrival of your little one and the longer you wait, the more difficult it will be to have your push gift ready. The baby may also come a little earlier than expected so it is important to have your push present ready to go months in advance. Your wife will not appreciate you leaving her with a newborn while you figure out and get a push present ready for her. She’ll need your help so waiting and procrastinating to get your push gift will not be the right thing to do.

So now you have your push gift in hand, ready to go. Now what? It might not be the smartest thing to give your push present in the delivery room right after the baby is pushed out. No need for much explanation here. Same goes for in the surgery room if the baby was a C-Section. Your wife will be too tired and filled with so much emotion with the birth of the baby that the push present given at this time will not have the best effect. It may also get thrown back in your face!

In fact, any time at the hospital may not be a good idea. Doctors and nurses are always checking on mommy so the chances to have a few minutes of private time to give your push gift in private are pretty slim. You don’t want to be in the middle of giving your push present when the nurse comes in to check to see how much she’s dilated. Or you don’t want to give it while she’s getting an epidural.

She may even be drugged up so will be in no shape to receive a push present. Or your push gift giving may be interrupted by Auntie or nieces and nephews coming to visit the newborn in the hospital.

A little patience is needed here and when you’re in the hospital after your baby is born, you will both be focused on your new little one that a push present given here may not have the best effect.

It has been suggested to give your push gift soon, within days, of arriving back home. It should also not be done with other people around. It should just be you two so you can tell your wife how much she means to you and how much you appreciate her for what she went through to have your baby.

Is a push present just another gift?

Push Present - Gifts
No! A push present also represents an emotional aspect. It’s not simply what you give, it’s also the meaning of it. Also, by giving your push present, it does not mean your work is done. Your wife will appreciate all the help she can get and you being there whenever she needs help or some time for herself is a given and should not be replaced by any push present.
